Ghana Federation Of Disability Organisation In The Bono region Requests government Attention On Matters Affecting Their Needs
Ghana federation of disability organisation in the Bono region has requested government attention on matters affecting their needs.
Speaking at a press conference organised at the forecourt of the people with disability regional office in Sunyani ,the Vice Chairperson of federation with disability in the Bono region Madam Serina Mahamadu said government has being taking some decisions concerning them without consulting the organisation which goes against them at long last. According to her there was some guidelines to the ministry of local government to allocate one seat for the disables in the MMDAS across the country which has being ignored, and will need a clarification from the government.
she said 1st may 2019 , the president presented Ghc 2 million to 1,000 disabled females entrepreneurs. Not only that on 24th July 2020 Ghc 2 million was also presented to male disabled by the president meanwhile the three regions (Bono, Ahafo and Bono East ) which have about 24 000 members population of disables were also ignored which also needs an explanation from the government why discriminating some of the disabled people.
In other part DVLA is discriminating against them without issuing drivers /riding license without any reasons for their members for the fact that they are disables. And last but not the least the recent EC Voter registration exercise, they were discriminated without recruiting their members who applied as a temporal registration offers without any reasonable explanation to their members. So they on this press conference to disclose their displeasure to government and sought for explanation the recent happening against them.
Mr. Isaac Yeboah Afari the public relations officer for Ghana federation of disability organisations demand disabled inclusion in matters involving their needs as it is a discriminatory and a cheat in their part.
