CORONAVIRUS; Twifo-Atimokwaa MP Donates Personal Protective Equipment To Health Directorate.

 Member of Parliament (MP) for Twifo-Atimokwaa Constituency in the central region who double as the Vice chairman of parliamentary select committee on Food, Agriculture and Cocoa affairs Hon. Abraham Dwuma Odoom  has presented some Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the health Directorate in his constituency as part of efforts to curb the continuous spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

The equipment include Veronica buckets,  hand sanitisers, nose masks, gloves, liquid soap and other itemss. His intervention comes at a time Ghana has recorded about Two hundred and eighty seven (287) cases.

In an interview with the media  after the presentation, Hon Odoom was optimistic that the equipment will go a long way to help members in the constituency fight the COVID-19.

“The District Chief Executive, myself and the District Health Directorate have been talking a lot because we want zero infection in the region as well as the constituency,” he said.

He indicated that the constituency has made available an isolation centre that will cater for coronavirus cases should there be an outbreak in the Central Region.

The District Director of Health Service for Twifo-Atimokwaa district, Mrs. Mavis Narh explained that the Directorate will distribute the PPE across the various health facilities, to equip them in a bid to fight the disease.

“We are going to distribute this equipment to the various health facilities in the district including the CHPS zones. The MP has given us handwashing soaps, face masks, Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers and a lot more and I want to say that we are very grateful to him but we must not panic. We must only follow the precautions,” she said.

Meanwhile, the district (Twifo-Atimokwaa) has already inaugurated the public health Emergency Committee to monitor and implement strategies to prevent and contain the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The members of the committee are Hon Robert Agyemang NYANTAKYI (DCE) who is the Chairman of the committee, Mr Ishmael Anaman, DCD and secretary of the committee. The other members are District Director of Health, Education, NADMO, Ambulance Service, Information Service Department, members of the District Security Committee.
